Shopping local and supporting local schools

Oakleigh Central has held its first ever Shop for Schools program, providing funding for local schools to complete a range of special projects.

Five schools are participating in the inaugural fundraising drive, including Huntingdale Primary School, Oakleigh Grammar, Oakleigh Primary School, Oakleigh South Primary School and Sacred Heart Primary School.

Each participating school has a barrel inside the fresh food mall and the school that collects the most tokens throughout the program wins.

Customers have also had the chance to win a $50 gift card drawn weekly, simply by confirming membership or signing up to the e-newsletter on the iPads located next to the barrels.

To coincide with the event, Oakleigh Central hosted Radio Station 3XY for a broadcast on-site between 10am and 2pm.

Seeing the Centre come to life with local dance group, the Manasis School of Dance and Culture present- ing traditional dances from across Greece attracting a large crowd.
