Greek Media Group, (3XY Radio Hellas – TA NEA) embraced the initiative undertaken by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia to conduct a fundraising campaign, throughout Australia with the slogan “Let’s help Greece”, an initiative taken in the face of the unprecedented Greek tragedy currently unfolding from the destructive fires ravaging almost the entire country.
Last week, Archiepiscopal Vicar, The Very Reverend Evmenios Vasilopoulos Hierarchical Commissioner of Northcote Victoria, Arch. Eumenios Vassilopoulos, visited the offices of 3XY Radio Hellas and spoke, on behalf of His Eminence, the Archbishop of Australia Mr. Makarios, with the General Manager of our Group, Mr. Spiros Alatsas. asking the group to assist the Archdioces in this fund raising initiative.
It was agreed to conduct a radiothon as soon as possible. Fr. Eumenios thanked Mr. Alatsas and the Stamoulis family on behalf of the Archbishop of Australia.
The Greek Media Group within days organised a radiothon that took place last Saturday14th and 15th August.The huge Greek Community ” of Melbourne and Victoria once again our “Parikia” responded positively to 3xy’s call, with hundreds of donations received over the weekend as they have done so many times before.
