Victoria has reported a further 28 COVID-19 deaths, as the seven-day average for hospitalisations continues to fall.

The state reported 7,126 new infections, taking the total number of active cases to 41,162.

There are 264 COVID-19 patients in Victorian hospitals, an increase on Tuesday’s figure of 255.

But the seven-day average for hospitalisations has been steadily dropping, and now sits at around 283, its lowest level since late September last year.

Of those in hospital, 37 are in intensive care and five are on ventilators.

About 59 per cent of Victorian adults have now received three vaccine doses and 94 per cent of those aged 12 and older have received at least two.
