Society of Kalamata “23rd March’s” annual dinner dance

On Saturday 23 March 2019 over 350 members and guests joined the committee of the Society of Kalamata “23 March” for its hugely successful 38th annual dinner dance.

The Annual Dinner Dance was a celebration in honour of the 198th anniversary of the Liberation of Kalamata on the 23rd of March 1821 and of the beginning of the Greek War of Independence.

It was a sold out event, 6 weeks in advance, which was held at the prestigious Malvern Town Hall on the corner Glenferrie Road and High Street in Malvern.

The event attracted guests from the first generation through to the third generation. The oldest member present was 88 years of age and the youngest was 3 years of age. The night was a fun filled night full of celebrations for all. Music was provided by one of Melbourne’s best “DJ Peter B” who was accompanied by a bouzouki player all evening. There was a raffle with a return ticket to Greece as the first prize, a free photo booth for the guests to take plenty of happy snaps and a silent auction with a wonderful array of items available.

“We were thrilled with the outcome of the annual dinner dance. The success of the functions organised by the committee shows that if you have a quality event the members will support it and will encourage their family and friends to participate.” said Theo Kalyvas, the President of the Society of Kalamata “23 March”.
