Schoolgirl in Ecuador threatened by masked thieves during Zoom lesson

The attack on the girl, identified as Maria Jose, happened when she was in a zoom chat with 25 classmates and her teacher.

As seen in the video, two masked intruders are seen entering the girl’s room, in the city of Ambato in central Ecuador.

The thieves appear unaware their threats against the student were being filmed and broadcast to the entire class.

But the timing of the attack allowed Maria’s classmates to alert authorities and her family.

Police tracked the thieves down shortly after they fled the scene.

The four suspects were found in possession of a safe, about AUD5,400 in cash, two guns, one “puncturing weapon”, two mobile phones, a laptop and a video games console.

The suspects have been placed in custody.

It is unclear if they have been charged with anything yet.
