No new COVID-19 cases in Victoria despite thousands in quarantine

Victoria has dodged recording any new local cases of COVID-19 despite as many as 10,000 people isolating after being linked to Perth’s coronavirus outbreak.The infected man travelled from Perth to Melbourne onboard Qantas flight QF778 on Wednesday, sending 241 passengers into isolation following fears the virus may have spread.Of the 241 passengers, 135 have so far tested negative to COVID-19.Four close contacts of the man including his spouse, two children and a friend of one child have also returned negative tests.

Melbourne Airport’s Terminal One remains a Tier 2 exposure site.

Anyone who attended the area between 7pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 21 must get tested immediately.More than 12,000 people came forward to get tested in the past 24 hours.Victoria’s active number of COVID-19 cases sits at 23.
