A Coles customer has changed her shopping routine after claiming to have bought $205.50 worth of groceries for just $3.60.

Anne, from Queensland, visited her local supermarket at 8pm on Wednesday and shared an image online of the ‘bargain bonanza’ food haul, which included 10c wraps, chopped fruit and milk.

‘Best haul for ages,’ she captioned the social media post.

The following day after visiting Coles again, Anne announced she is permanently changing her shopping schedule to 8pm in order to score further markdowns.

On Thursday Anne came across ‘another crazy markdown bonanza’ with nothing exceeding 10c besides a 10kg bag of rice and bread mix for just 50c each.

She shared images of the buys, including pairs of socks and pet food for a mere 10c each.

The social media post caused a buzz online among customers who were keen to try shopping at a later hour too for the best discounts.

’10c for the socks! That’s crazy!’ one person wrote, another added: ‘You scored big time.’

Another said: ‘Wow wish I had a Coles near me. They seem to have better markdowns than Woolies.’

Others praised Anne for sharing the tip, but some claim they were disappointed to find no discounts at their local supermarket.

‘I always go to our Coles clearance section but have never hit gold like that,’ one person wrote.

‘Went to my Woolies tonight at 8pm and not a single thing discounted by even 10c. I think my local Coles and Woolies have a high turnover of meat and perishables unfortunately,’ another added.

The best time to shop for bargains at supermarkets is in the morning, after 7pm or just before the store closes.

With the cost of living surging, Australians are budgeting more than ever.

What’s the best time to grocery shop?

In the morning – shoppers can save between 10 and 20% off goods about to expire

Before dinner – shoppers can save up to 50% off goods about to expire

Just before the store closes – shoppers can save up to 90% off goods about to expire

* Markdowns are determined based on store policies and times and may vary
