“Manasis” School of Dance & Culture celebrates 40 years

25 September, 2019

It was the tenth annual ball of the “Manassis” School of Dance & Culture, however this year marked 40 years since its foundation and it was brilliantly celebrated.

Last Saturday, 21 September, the reception hall of the Nafpaktian Association in Heatherton was set “on fire” by the traditional dances and music.

As Mr Demosthenes Manassis, Director of the School said, “the evening belonged to those present without speeches and raffle tickets, and it was a great success. Once again the youth showed their enthusiasm for traditional dances and music, which means that time cannot uproot them and they remain an integral part of our life and our identity”.

More than 800 people attended the event and danced the night away, until the early hours of the morning. The dance group, in traditional costumes, danced folk dances to the sounds of traditional musical instruments. Four or five young men played the bouzouki with passion.

All this, coupled with a great variety of delicious food and a warm family atmosphere made Saturday night a beautiful experience for all.
