The final days of school holidays will be wild and windswept, with these popular tourist spots set to cop a battering.
Popular holiday spots are among the locations bracing for wild wind, with the Bureau of Meteorology issuing a severe weather warning.
Damaging winds have been forecasted in Central, East Gippsland, South West, North Central, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.
Popular travel destinations including the Grampians, Otway ranges, Ballarat, the Yarra Ranges, Mt Baw Baw, Mt Buller, Mt Hotham, Falls Creek and Daylesford fall in the warning zones.
The Bureau expects to see damaging north to northwesterly winds hit western and central areas above 300m in the warning zone this afternoon, before moving east in the evening.
Peaks gusts of around 90km/h have been forecast, with an average between 50 and 60 km/h.
But early Wednesday morning could bring even further destruction, with peak gusts of up to 110km/h possible in the eastern warning areas.
SES has urged people to stay indoors away from windows, keep their distance from fallen powerlines and stay up to date with emergency warnings.
It comes after a polar blast that saw autumn snowfall in Victoria on Sunday.
The state’s snow resorts were celebrating after the first snowfall of the season arrived at the alps, including at Falls Creek, Baw Baw, Mt Buller and Lake Mountain, bringing an early start to winter.
